One of the main reasons that Emma is so successful is constant innovation. Some time ago, they released a new option and in this Emma Elite mattress review, I will talk about it. This mattress is the first to feature the AirGrid technology that promises excellent pressure relief and cooling. Other than that, this is a hybrid option that combines foam layers with pocket springs. My Elite mattress was delivered almost a week ago so let’s move now to the full review below.
What is this mattress made of?
This mattress features 5 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- An AirGrid layer that can remove any bodily pressure. It’s also designed to allow airflow which is super important for any mattress.
- A MemoryAdapt foam foam layer that has the ability to mould to your body’s shape and evenly distribute pressure.
- A low-density foam layer that can cradle your body for extra comfort.
- A SupportBase foam layer that determines the feel of this mattress.
- A layer made of pocket springs that can dynamically adapt to your body’s movement. These springs are made of steel so they will last for a long time.
The Emma Elite mattress measures 27cm in height and the picture below shows us the position of each layer.
Is this a nice cover?
The cover of the Elite mattress is made of 99% polyester and 1% elastane. This is a great combination and it’s similar to the one they use for their Emma Original Hybrid mattress. Polyester is a breathable material that is very durable. Elastane gives the cover a good fit so this is a winning recipe. As expected, this is a removable cover and if you want to clean it, you can use your washing machine. Make sure you use a mild detergent at 30 degrees.
The design is a beautiful one, and for this version, the people at Emma chose to use yellow details. The upper part is white and the bottom part is dark grey. The sleeping surface feels soft and overall this is a practical cover that is well-made.
How firm is this mattress?
It’s time now to continue writing this Emma Elite mattress review and talk about its feel. As expected from most boxed mattresses, this comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.7 with 10 being really firm. Let’s talk now about my experience with it for the past week.
Starting from the back position, the mattress felt extremely comfortable from the beginning. Pressure relief was excellent and the tall pocket springs could manage my weight with ease. I didn’t feel that I was sinking, it was more like sleeping on a cloud.
Turning to the side position, the mattress adjusted quickly and the sleeping surface remained comfortable. There was no discomfort in the hips area and I was well-supported.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, the Elite mattress managed to support my hips and shoulders. This allowed my spine to align correctly and overall, this is a mattress that will suit all sleeping positions.
If you share your bed with a partner, the good news is that this mattress has minimal motion transfer. That means that you won’t disturb each other and you will have a better sleep. Moreover, the edge support is great so you won’t have trouble getting in and out of bed.
Does this mattress come with free delivery?
One thing that I hate is paying for delivery. Thankfully, all Emma mattresses come with free shipping, provided of course you live in a UK postcode. Their service is quite fast and your mattress will be delivered within 3-7 working days. In my case, it was only three but I remind you that I live in London. The whole experience was very smooth and I was informed about every step of the process either by text or email. The box arrived in excellent condition and overall, I was very happy with the service I got.
Is there a way to try this mattress before?
For many people, buying a mattress online can be a risky decision. For this reason, the people at Emma decided to offer a 200-night trial period that allows customers to try it at home. If you change your mind you can return it and get a full refund. The process is relatively simple and all you have to do is contact their customer service department. Besides that, the Emma Elite mattress comes with a 10-year guarantee so you will be covered for a really long time. This is a complete package and another reason to buy this high-quality mattress.
How much will it cost me?
As I have mentioned earlier, this is a premium mattress so it’s not the cheapest option out there. It’s available in 4 sizes, so there are limited options. The smaller size (Single) sells for £1,389 with the bigger (Super King) going for £2,599. Of course, Emma is a brand known for its promotions. For instance, at the moment of writing, there was a 50% off promotion and a King size would only cost you £1,149. Below you will find detailed information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Single | 90 x 190 x 25cm | £1,389 |
Double | 135 x 190 x 25cm | £2,049 |
King | 150 x 200 x 25cm | £2,299 |
Super King | 180 x 200 x 25cm | £2,599 |
Is the Elite mattress one to consider?
I am ready now to complete this Emma Elite mattress review and share my final thoughts with you. In my view, this could be a great option for those looking for:
- A versatile mattress that is built for all sleeping positions.
- A cooling mattress that is well-balanced.
- A mattress that comes with a 200-night trial period.
The truth is that this is an impressive mattress and it’s a result of constant innovation by the people at Emma. The Elite mattress is built with great materials and impressive technology and as you expect this is a winning combination. If you look for a great all-rounder this is the way to go.
