Getting good sleep is one of the most important things for long-term health. But is a good mattress enough to achieve that? The answer is no and I think that a good pillow is equally important. In this Una pillow review, I will explore this organic option to see if it’s one that is worth our attention.
For those who have never heard of Una, it’s a company that specialises in making organic mattresses. It was a natural step for them to create a pillow too so I was really curious to try this out. The pillow is available in 3 sizes but for this review, I will talk about the standard one which measures 50x75x13cm. The Una pillow is designed in Germany but it’s manufactured in India where they also source all the materials used to make it. When you order from them you will get a 100-night trial period and a 5-year guarantee. This is fantastic and it’s something not offered frequently with this type of product. The pillow comes with free delivery and it usually takes 5-7 working days. I got mine about a month ago so it’s a good time now to move to the full review below.
Just like their mattresses, this pillow also features a modular design. That means that you can adjust it according to your needs. It features 2 pieces of latex foam just like the ones pictured in the image below. The two ‘foam flakes’ have a different firmness so you can place them accordingly to create the perfect combination. The latex foam used here follows the GOLS standards so you know they are actually organic. The inner pillow is well made and Una did a good job here.
The cover of this pillow is made of wool and cotton. They chose this blend because it’s very breathable but it also feels very soft. The cover can wick moisture away so you will sleep cool even during the hot summer nights. Another benefit of this blend is the fact that it’s naturally fire-retardant so Una didn’t have to add any harmful chemicals. The design is a relatively plain one but I personally liked it. If you want to clean the cover, you should spot clean it with a mild detergent. Using a washing machine is not advisable by the maker. Overall, this is a good cover and I think that Una did well here.
One of the main reasons you should buy this pillow is the ability to change the height and its firmness. This will allow you to customise it according to your needs and you will have a great chance to find the right combination. I am mostly a stomach sleeper so I removed the top inner foam insert to create a pillow with a lower loft. This worked quite well for me and I felt well supported. The latex foam provided my neck and head with the needed pressure relief and it felt comfortable to sleep with the Una pillow. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that the pillow felt a bit shaggy without the second insert. Overall, it did a good job in all sleeping positions and I think it will suit most sleepers.
Is the Una pillow for me?
It’s time now to complete this Una pillow review and share my final thoughts with you. I think that this pillow would be a great fit for those looking for:
An organic pillow that comes with adjustable height and firmness.
A natural latex pillow which is supportive and comfortable.
A pillow that comes with a 100-night trial period.
