Great makers keep innovating and Simba is definitely one of them. A month ago they released the ‘Earth’ range which includes 3 options that are made with natural materials. In this Simba Escape mattress review, I will talk about this interesting mattress and whether it’s one you should consider.

According to the maker, this mattress will massively improve the quality of your sleep but we will find out more about it later. Mine was delivered almost a week ago so it’s time to move to the full review below.
What is inside this mattress?
This mattress features 6 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A British wool layer that adds comfort and allows airflow.
- A layer made of Yorkshire hemp and flax that can support but also control moisture.
- A layer made of Yorkshire hemp and flax combined with wool for enhanced support & improved heat control.
- A layer of titanium Aerocoil micro springs that respond to your body’s movements. This layer also helps with pressure relief.
- A layer made of carbon steel springs for extra stability and support.
- A Quadcore sprung base for extra stability and defined support.
The Simba Escape mattress measures 28cm in height and below, you can have an idea of how it looks from the inside.
Does it come with a nice cover?
When designing this mattress, they decided to use viscose wool. For those who are not very familiar with this material, viscose is a semi-synthetic type of rayon fabric made from wood pulp. It’s most commonly used as a silk alternative as it has a silky smooth touch but it’s not very expensive. For this reason, it’s a great material to make a mattress cover. Viscose wool is quite breathable so it allows airflow. That helps the sleeping surface to remain cool during the night. The cover features a white colour that looks clean but is not the most exciting design. On the sides, you will find 4 handles that will help you move it whenever that is needed. The bad news is that the cover is not removable so you won’t be able to machine-wash it. This is the only drawback here but it’s not a crucial one. Overall, this is a high-quality cover that won’t disappoint.
How firm is this mattress?
I want now to continue writing this Simba Escape mattress review and talk about its feel. This is a mattress designed to suit all sleeping positions so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say this is a 6.5 with 10 being really firm. I want to share now my experience with it in the past week.
Lying on my back, the mattress instantly felt very comfortable and that impressed me. the weight distribution was ideal and the three spring layers did a great job supporting my body.
Turning to my side, the mattress adjusted quickly which allowed my spine to align correctly. Support remained good and I felt comfortable sleeping this way.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, the mattress did a good job supporting my hips and chest. Although this is not a firm mattress, it did a great job in this position which impressed me. Overall, this is an all-rounder so it will suit all types of sleepers.
The Escape mattress is also designed to minimise motion transfer so it’s suitable for couples. Besides that, the edge support is great which is expected from such a well-made mattress. That makes it a great choice for anyone sleeping with a partner.
Does it come with free delivery?
If you decide to buy a Simba Escape mattress, you are eligible for free VIP delivery. That means that your mattress will be delivered by 2 couriers who will set the mattress up for you. After they are done, they will remove all packaging so you can use your mattress straight away. For an extra £50, they can remove your old mattress and recycle it. This is very practical as it’s not always easy to get rid of your old mattress. Finally, under the VIP service, you can ask for a certain delivery date which is very useful for all busy people. My mattress was delivered by two couriers and the service was on point. I got what I was promised so I was really happy with it.
Will I get a trial period?
One of the best things about the Simba brand is the fact it offers a 200-night trial period. That gives you more than 6 months to try this mattress at home so you can decide later whether you want to keep it or not. If you are not happy with it, you can return it and get your money back. The process is free and you don’t have to keep the original packaging to be able to do so. All returned mattresses are recycled, refurbished or donated.

Is this an expensive mattress?
The Simba Escape mattress is not the most affordable option out there but this is quite normal when you consider that this is a handcrafted mattress. If all of these sound good to you, the Escape mattress should be on your list. It’s not the most affordable option out there but it’s kind of a unique offering so in my opinion, it makes sense to justify the extra cost. It’s well-balanced, it sleeps cool and it comes with a great support package. For all these reasons, it’s a mattress I can recommend.
