One of the things that great companies do is keep improving their products. In this Emma NextGen Premium mattress review, I will talk about this new release that is one of the most exciting mattresses that I have reviewed in recent years.
Awarded “Best Hybrid Mattress” for 2024
After seeing great success with their older hybrid mattresses, the people at Emma decided that there was more room for improvement. This is how the NextGen Premium mattress came to life and it’s definitely going to be their next best-seller. I decided to order mine almost a month ago so it’s time now to move to the full review below.
What is this mattress made of?
The NextGen Premium mattress is made of 5 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A Halo memory foam layer that is designed to improve spinal alignment and provide your body with much-needed pressure relief.
- An Airgocell foam layer that has the ability to regulate heat efficiently.
- A supportive foam layer that can reduce pressure points.
- A pocket-spring layer that is divided into 7 zones. This allows this mattress to provide your body with customised support.
- An HRX foam layer that can provide sufficient counter pressure so your spine is aligned properly.
The mattress measure 25cm in height so it has a medium loft. I also have to mention here that this mattress is UKFR certified so it has fire-retardant qualities. To get a better look at its build, we can look at the image below which shows the architecture of this mattress.
Does it come with a nice cover?
This mattress features the very popular Emma UltraDry cover which is made of polyester. It has an updated design that looks more premium and a bit more contemporary. Having said that, it’s still very similar to the one they use for their Emma Original mattress. Polyester is very breathable and has the ability to wick the excess moisture away. It’s also a durable material that is easy to maintain. This cover is removable and if you want to clean it, you can use your washing machine. Just make sure you use a gentle cycle at 40 degrees. On the sides, they have added 4 moving handles that allow you to move this mattress with ease. This is quite practical and Emma is known to think this way. Overall, this is a high-quality cover that ticks all the boxes.
Is the NextGen Premium a firm mattress?
I want to continue writing this Emma NextGen Premium mattress review and discuss its feel. This is a mattress that is built to suit the average sleeper so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.8 with 10 being really firm. Let’s talk now about my experience with it in the past three weeks
Starting from the back position, the mattress felt firm but at the same time very comfortable. My body was well supported and my spinal alignment was perfect. I didn’t feel any pressure in any parts of my body and I felt that the mattress did a great job in this position.
Turning to the side position, the mattress reacted quickly and adjusted to help my spine be in a neutral position. There was no discomfort in the hips and shoulder areas and I was quite comfortable.
Finally, moving to the front position, the sleeping surface felt firm enough and I was pleasantly surprised by the good job that this mattress did. I think that this is a true all-rounder and probably the best mattress in its class.
If you share your bed with a partner, the good news is that the Emma NextGen has great edge support so you can use the entire sleeping surface. Moreover, the springs are designed to minimise motion transfer so you won’t disturb each other during sleep. As a result, this mattress can be a good option for couples.
Will I get a trial period?
Many sleepers don’t feel confident buying a mattress online. For this reason, the people at Emma decided to offer a 200-night trial period that gives you more than 6 months to try this at home. If you are not happy with it, you always have the right to return it and get your money back. Returns are free and the people at Emma will take care of everything for you.
Moreover, all Emma mattresses come with a 10-year guarantee that will cover you for a long time. If you visit their policy page, you will find more details about it. Overall, this is a comprehensive package that won’t disappoint you.
Does it come with free shipping?
If you decide to buy this mattress, you will get free delivery. They work with DPD, UPS and Rhenus so you should expect a good service. Delivery usually takes between 2-5 working days but that depends on your postcode. If you want to have your old mattress removed, they offer this for an extra £45 and you should choose this option at checkout. This includes a 2-man delivery service so it’s a nice add-on. My NextGen Premium mattress was delivered via UPS and the whole experience was great. Overall, they offer a fantastic service so no complaints at all.
Is this an expensive option?
One of the great things about this mattress is the fact it’s available in 7 sizes. That means that you have plenty of options to choose from and they even offer two EU sizes. The smaller one (Single) sells for £659 with the bigger one (Super King) going for £1,249. Of course, Emma is a brand that runs frequent promotions so you will definitely pay less than the retail price. For instance, I only paid £500 for an EU double. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Single | 90 x 190 x 25cm | £659 |
Small Double | 120 x 190 x 25cm | £799 |
Double | 135 x 190 x 25cm | £959 |
EU Double | 140 x 200 x 25cm | £1,009 |
King | 150 x 200 x 25cm | £1,119 |
EU Queen | 160 x 200 x 25cm | £1,219 |

Is this an option to consider?
I am ready now to complete this Emma NextGen Premium mattress review and share my final thoughts with you. This would be a great option for anyone looking for:
- A hybrid mattress that is designed to suit all types of sleepers.
- A high-quality mattress that is very supportive and comfortable.
- A mattress that comes with a 200-night trial period.
I must admit that the NextGen Premium mattress has impressed me and it can definitely compete with more expensive mattresses. This is hard to ignore so if you look for a great all-rounder that comes with great service and support, look no further.
