If you are looking for a mattress that doesn’t sleep hot, you should definitely read this Emma Luxe Cooling mattress review. After having great success with their Emma Original Hybrid mattress, the people behind the German brand decided it was the right time to release a mattress that features an excellent cooling mechanism. After months of development, the Luxe Cooling is finally here.
This is the second hybrid option they have released and is designed for those looking for a more plush feel. As you expect, this is another boxed mattress from the German maker and it will come packed inside a carton box. I decided to get mine almost two weeks ago so let’s move now to the full review below.
What is an Emma Luxe Cooling mattress made of?
The Emma Luxe Cooling mattress features 5 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A ThermoSync foam layer that is infused with graphite particles. This layer has the ability to regulate heat during the night so you sleep more comfortably.
- A Halo foam layer that can mould around your body and has excellent pressure-relieving properties. This layer promotes optimal spinal alignment.
- A supportive foam layer that is designed to reduce pressure points and support your spine.
- A layer made of tall Aeroflex pocket springs (12cm) that can provide your body with personalised support and increase airflow.
- An HRX foam layer that adds support and is the base of this mattress.
The mattress has a medium loft and measures 25cm in height. The image below gives us a better idea of the position of each layer.
Is the cover any good?
The cover of this mattress is made of 99% polyester and 1% elastane. They decided to use this blend because it’s durable but also has the ability to allow airflow. Additionally, it can regulate your body’s heat so you can sleep more comfortably. The design is a modern one and it features a white top part and a grey bottom part.
The cover is removable and if you want to clean it, you can pop it inside your washing machine at 40 degrees. This is great and makes it very easy to maintain. On the sides, they have added 4 carrying handles that can help you move it with more ease. Finally, at the bottom, there is an anti-slip surface that will keep your mattress in place. Overall, this is a well-made cover that features a very clever design.
How firm is the Emma Luxe Cooling mattress?
Let’s continue now with this Emma Luxe Cooling mattress review and talk about its feel. When designing this mattress they wanted to focus on comfort. For this reason, the Emma Luxe mattress comes with a medium feel and if I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6 with 10 being really firm. I want to talk now about my experience with it during the past ten days.
Starting from the back position, the mattress felt very comfortable and pressure relief was adequate. I felt well-supported and there was no pressure point on my back.
Turning to the side position, the mattress adjusted quickly and the comfort levels remained high. I didn’t feel any discomfort on my hips and my spinal alignment was neutral.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, the mattress did a good job and I was well-supported. Although this mattress has a plush feel, it’s still suitable for front sleepers and that is quite impressive in my opinion.
As for the edge support, you should expect a good one thanks to the solid construction of this mattress. Additionally, this is a mattress designed to minimise motion transfer so it can be a good choice for couples.
What type of bed frame should I use with this mattress?
The Luxe Cooling mattress is a versatile one so you can use any type of bed frame with it. I personally prefer slatted frames and box springs because they are very supportive and can help your mattress perform at its best. Remember that if you use a slatted frame, you should make sure that the distance between each slat is no longer than 7cm.
Does it come with free delivery?
If you decide to buy this mattress, you will get free delivery provided you live in a UK postcode. Delivery is relatively fast so you should expect your mattress within 3-7 working days. Emma works with DPD, UPS and Rhenus so you should expect a quality service. As I have already mentioned, the Emma Luxe is a rolled mattress so you should expect it packed inside a carton box.
When I ordered mine, it took 4 working days before I got it so I didn’t wait for that long. The box arrived in great condition and the courier was prompt. The mattress is quite heavy so I needed some help to move it to my bedroom. Overall, I was happy with their service so no complaints at all.
Can I try it before I buy it?
All Emma mattresses come with a 200-night trial period so you have more than 6 months to try this mattress before you decide whether you want to keep it or not. If for any reason, you are not happy with it, you can return it and get a full refund. Their customer service is great and the process is not a complicated one. Moreover, this mattress comes with a 10-year guarantee that will cover you for a long time. Of course, make sure you read the full terms & conditions on their page so you know what you are getting. Overall, this is a competitive package that won’t disappoint you.
How much does it cost?
The Emma Luxe Cooling mattress is available in 8 sizes so there are plenty of options to choose from. The smaller size (Single) will cost you £789 with the bigger one (Super King) going for £1,589. Having said that, they run frequent promotions so you don’t have to pay the full price. For instance, at the moment of writing, there was a 40% off promotion.
