After seeing great success in France, Hypnia decided to enter the UK market a few years back. In this Hypnia Original Hybrid mattress review, I discuss everything you need to know about this true bestseller.
This is another boxed mattress that comes with great specs but an affordable price tag. It’s part of the Hypnia mattress range that features a total of 4 mattresses. My Original Hybrid was delivered almost a week ago so it’s time now to move to the full review below.
What are the layers of this mattress?
The Hypnia Original hybrid mattress is made of 5 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A memory foam layer that is the main source of pressure relief.
- A cloud-zoned foam layer that can support demanding areas of your body like your lower back and hips.
- A pocket spring layer that forms 5 zones. These can provide tailored support for your body and promote a neutral spinal alignment.
- A border foam encasement that is designed to improve edge support.
- A cold foam layer that prevents sagging and increases durability.
The mattress measures 25cm in height and the image below gives us a better look at the position of each layer.
Does it come with a good cover?
The cover of this mattress is made of Air-wave fabric that is designed to sleep cool and allow airflow. It has a quilted sleeping surface that adds a more premium look and feel and it has a soft touch. It’s removable and machine-washable so you won’t have trouble cleaning it. Just make sure you wash it at a low temperature with a mild detergent.
The design is a minimal one and it’s very similar to the Hypnia Supreme Memory mattress. The only difference is that this one has a slightly lighter colour. The bad news is that there are no side handles here so it’s a bit more difficult to move this mattress. Other than that, I cannot find another drawback and this is a cover that really impressed me.
Is this a firm mattress?
It’s time now to continue writing this Hypnia Original Hybrid mattress review and talk about its feel. This is a medium-firm mattress and if I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.8 with 10 being really firm. I want to talk now about my experience with it during the past week.
Lying on my back the mattress felt comfortable and the weight distribution was optimal. Support was great and there was no pressure on my back or hips.
Turning to the side position, the pocket springs adjusted quickly and that helped my spine align correctly. There was no discomfort on my hips and support remained adequate.
Finally, moving to the front position, the mattress did a good job supporting my hips and shoulders and that helped me to sleep comfortably. That means that this mattress will suit every position and at that price, this is impressive.
Another great thing about this mattress is its edge support. Thanks to the foam encasement, you will get in and out of bed with ease. For those sleeping with a partner, the Original Hybrid has minimal motion transfer so it can be a good choice for couples.
Will I pay for delivery?
Paying for delivery is something that really annoys me and thankfully, the people behind Hypnia seem to understand that. For this reason, they offer a free delivery that takes between 3 to 5 days. That, of course, depends on where you live and what is your proximity to their warehouse. I am based in London so it only took 3 working days for me to receive my mattress.
The box arrived with some stains on it but I guess this was normal from all the transits. The mattress is not too heavy so you will be able to carry it by yourselves. On the day of the delivery, I received a text with my delivery slot and the process felt straightforward. The courier arrived on time and overall, I had a smooth experience with them.
Can I try this before I buy it?
One of the main reasons you should buy this mattress is the great support package it comes with. Firstly, you will get a 200-night trial period that allows you to try this at home. You actually have more than 6 months to try it and if you are not happy with it, you can return it and get your money back. The process is a simple one and you don’t have to keep the original packaging to be able to create a return.
Moreover, this mattress comes with a 15-year guarantee that is definitely one of the longest in the UK. This is impressive, especially for a mattress that doesn’t cost a fortune. Of course, before you buy it, make sure you read the full terms and conditions that you can find on their guarantee page. Overall, this is a superb support package that impressed me.
How much will I pay for it?
This is a relatively affordable mattress and it’s available in 5 sizes. The smaller one (Single) sells for £799 with the bigger one (Super King) going for £1,599. However, Hypnia is a maker that runs frequent promotions so you will definitely pay less than that. For instance, at the moment of writing this, there was a 60% off promotion! That means that a King mattress would only cost you £549. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Single | 90 x 190 x 20cm | £799 |
Small Double | 120 x 190 x 20cm | £1,099 |
Double | 135 x 190 x 20cm | £1,249 |
King | 150 x 200 x 20cm | £1,379 |
Super King | 180 x 200 x 20cm | £1,599 |
Should I buy the Hypnia Original Hybrid?
I am ready to complete this Hypnia Original Hybrid mattress review and share my final thoughts with you. In my view, this is a great option for anyone looking for:
- A hybrid mattress that works in every sleeping position.
- A mattress that has excellent edge support.
- A mattress that comes with a 200-night trial period.
If all of these sound appealing, this mattress should be on your consideration list. It’s an option that offers a lot for its price and it’s a versatile mattress that will satisfy even the more demanding sleepers. If you are looking for a value-for-money mattress that doesn’t lack quality, this is the way to go.
