Silentnight Weighted Blanket Review

More and more people can’t sleep these days due to stress and anxiety. If you are one of them, it would be a good idea to read my Silentnight weighted blanket review.

During the last few years, sales of weighted blankets have radically increased in the UK and there is a good reason for that. People seek comfort and a sense of relaxation and such a blanket can be a good start. Silentnight decided to create one so I was really keen to try this out. Mine was delivered almost a week ago so it’s time now to move to the full review below.

What is this blanket made of?

During the design process, the engineers at Silentnight wanted to create a blanket that is comforting and will make users feel better. For this reason, they used soft quilted microfibre which according to them can provide this ‘extra huggable’ comfort. The cover feels soft and it has a nice touch.

On the inside, they used tiny glass beads that are placed in square pockets (12cm) for even distribution. This type of bead is virtually undetectable and all you will feel is its weight. The finishing is good and this is a bedding product that will last you for a long time. The blanket is machine-washable so it’s easy to clean and maintain. Overall, the people at Silentnight did a great job here and I was happy with the quality of this weighted blanket.

Do weighted blankets worth the hype?

Many people would want the answer to this question but this is not always a simple yes or no. Having said that, empirical evidence has shown that weighted blankets are associated with some positive results and this is a good start. According to a study in 2018, weighted blankets may be an appropriate therapeutic product for those who suffer from stress and anxiety. Another study that took place back in 2020, reported that weighted blankets can improve the overall quality of sleep. Of course, I have to mention here that to have conclusive results, more studies are needed but the initial research seems to suggest that weighted blankets can have positive effects. Today we use this type of bedding mainly for the three below conditions.

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Depression

Regardless of whether you want to address one of the above conditions or you just seek a general sense of calmness, a weighted blanket is something that you can try.

Is this an expensive blanket?

The Silentnight weighted blanket is an affordable one and it’s available in two weights. I remind you that the general rule is that the weight of the blanket should be approximately 10% of your body weight. The lighter blanket weighs 7kg with the bigger one weighing 9kg. The two versions are very similarly priced and you will pay around £60 to get one. Amazon usually runs promotions so it’s probably the best place to get this weighted blanket.

9kg£70

Do I have to pay for delivery?

If you decide to buy this one, you are eligible for free delivery providing of course you live in a UK postcode. Moreover, the Silentnight weighted blanket comes with a 12-month warranty which is not a bad deal. After all, this is a bedding product so I am personally happy with the duration of the warranty.

Will this weighted blanket help me?

This is a complicated question but I will try to help you decide whether you get one or not before I complete this Silentnight weighted blanket review. The main benefits of this option are its quality and price. That means that you will get good value for your money from a name that you can trust. This is hard to ignore, therefore this is an option I can recommend.
