Sleeping is a huge part of our lives. After all, we spend around one third of our time here on earth in our beds! This is why it is so important to choose the right sleeping products, from mattresses to pillows and sheets. However, this is not always enough to get a good night’s sleep. In this post I will talk about some potential sleeping problems you might face and what you should do to avoid them.

Allergies and your mattress

A high number of allergies are caused by dust mites. They exist in every house and it is impossible to remove them with your regular vacuum cleaner along with dust. They like humid and warm environments so as you can understand your mattress is a very good place for them. Symptoms caused by dust mite allergies include itchy eyes or skin, a persistent cough, nasal drip, sneezing and nasal congestion. To prevent this you can buy an allergy-free mattress protector and also wash your sheets once a week. This will help a lot and will minimise your chances to get an allergy.

Back pain issues

The mattress industry has progressed a lot during the past decade. Many new companies offer high quality mattresses at an affordable price. Having said that, if you still use an old mattress, this is the time to get a new one. Using the right mattress can help you avoid having a bad back and neck pain. Make sure your mattress has the right firmness level and offers you the needed support and pressure relief. Besides the mattress, a good pillow is also crucial to protect your neck but also your spine. The mattress and the pillow work together to form the right spine alignment which is crucial for a healthy body.

It might sound weird to some of you to have these type of issues but it’s a common reality. Bedrooms that are not aired regularly are at high risk especially during the summer months when temperatures rise.
